NoonAfter

The buses sleep in lazy lines
Of blue - yellow monsters in statis;
As the salt of a thousand bodies settle,
The nuclear reaction continues in the sky;
And dead bodies burn and flies buzz
Amid the stench of open hearts and drains.

The windchime hangs limply in the humid air
So heavy with your failures,
I soak my feet in scented water
But the smell of the afternoon lingers still.
